Dental Crown & Bridge in Karachi

Restore damaged or missing teeth with lifelike zirconia crowns and precision bridges at our DHA Phase 5 clinic. Stronger than natural enamel. Looks identical.

What is a Dental Crown?

A dental crown (also called a dental cap) is a custom-made restoration that covers the entire visible surface of a tooth, encasing it completely from the gumline upward. Crowns are used to protect and restore teeth that are too damaged, cracked, or decayed to be fixed with a simple filling.

At Dr. Shahid Islam Dental Clinic in DHA Phase 5, Karachi, we offer three types of crowns: high-strength Zirconia, ultra-aesthetic E-max porcelain, and durable PFM (Porcelain Fused to Metal). Patients from Clifton, DHA Phase 6, Gulshan, and PECHS visit us for both crowns on root canal treated teeth and full cosmetic crown restorations.

When Do You Need a Dental Crown?

  • ๐Ÿฆท
    After Root Canal Treatment

Every tooth that has undergone root canal treatment must be crowned. The procedure leaves the tooth brittle and at high risk of fracture. A crown provides the essential structural protection.

  • ๐Ÿ”จ
    Severely Cracked or Fractured Teeth

A crown holds a cracked tooth together, preventing the crack from propagating to the root (which would require extraction).

  • ๐Ÿ•ณ๏ธ
    Large Cavities or Broken Fillings

When more than half of a tooth is decayed or an existing filling has broken, there is insufficient tooth structure for another filling. A crown provides complete structural restoration.

  • ๐Ÿ˜ฌ
    Worn-Down Teeth (Bruxism)

Patients who grind their teeth (bruxism) can wear teeth down severely. Crowns restore normal tooth height and function. Pair with a night guard to protect the new crowns.

Dental Bridge โ€” Replacing Missing Teeth Without Implants

A dental bridge is a fixed (non-removable) prosthesis that spans a gap created by one or more missing teeth. The bridge consists of two or more crowns (abutments) on the teeth flanking the gap, connected to one or more false teeth (pontics) that fill the space. Unlike dental implants, bridges do not require surgery, making them a faster solution for replacing missing teeth. However, bridges require grinding down the adjacent healthy teeth to support the pontic.

๐Ÿ”— Crown After Root Canal

We strongly recommend placing a zirconia or E-max crown within 4-6 weeks of completing root canal treatment. Uncrowned RCT teeth have a very high fracture risk. A crown protects your investment and saves the tooth for life.

Frequently Asked Questions

Zirconia crowns at our DHA Phase 5 clinic range from PKR 20,000 to PKR 35,000 per unit. Zirconia is our most recommended material โ€” it is the strongest crown available and the most natural-looking.

Crowns are for restoring existing (damaged) teeth. Bridges replace missing teeth. For missing teeth, a dental implant is the gold standard as it doesn't grind down adjacent teeth. Bridges are chosen when implants aren't suitable.

No. The tooth preparation is performed under local anesthesia, so you feel no pain during the procedure. Post-treatment sensitivity is mild and temporary.

Typically 2 visits. The first visit involves tooth preparation and taking impressions; a temporary crown is placed. Your permanent crown is ready in 5โ€“10 working days, then bonded in the second visit.
